Carbon Verification and Certification Company Acquired by Global Leader

British company CICS (Complete Integrated Certification Services Ltd) announced today that it has agreed to acquire Dynasys Corp, an important player in the emerging U.S. carbon verification and management systems market.

CICS is an important carbon verification provider in the United Kingdom and Europe, and is very active in aviation, having worked with Virgin Atlantic and several UK airports.

The combined company also announced that it has launched a new website at www.cicsglobal.com.

Kurt Teuscher, the president of Dynasys, will become president of the new subsidiary, CICS Inc., and will be responsible for expanding the company’s US field force of carbon verification experts and accredited quality management auditors.

“Although no mandatory carbon verification program exists in the United States at this time, major organizations in every industry are taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Shaun Bainbridge, a director of CICS.  “CICS Inc. is a proven leader in the field, helping industry, transportation, government, and education institutions to obtain reliable, transparent and accurate CO2 reporting and verification under ANSI accreditation.”

Working at the advance edge of the evolving carbon verification market in North America, CICS was one of the first verification bodies to be awarded ANSI (American National Standards Institute) accreditation under The Climate Registry scheme. The Climate Registry (TCR) has been a defacto standard for many industries seeking to create an accurate, complete, consistent, transparent and verified set of greenhouse gas emissions data supported by a robust reporting and verification infrastructure.

The CICS list of accreditations includes:

  • EU ETS Verification (all sectors, aviation submitted). CICS was the first verification body to be awarded accreditation for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the scheme.
  • ISO 14065:2007 to provide Greenhouse Gas (GHG) verification. This is the new international standard for accreditation for verification bodies. CICS was awarded this by ANSI in 2009 and has now also been separately awarded accreditation by UKAS in 2010.
  • PAS 2050 - specification for the assessment of the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions of goods and services and the associated “Code of Good Practice”, for which only 2 verification bodies are accredited.
  • Climate Change Agreement (CCA)

CICS also holds formal accreditation with ANSI for the delivery of entity verification against:

  • ISO 14065:2007
  • ISO 14064:2006 Part 3
  • The Climate Registry (TCR) Verification Protocol

CICS is a leading global expert in carbon verification and consultancy, helping organizations in Europe and North America identify, document, and verify their carbon emissions to the appropriate mandated or voluntary carbon reduction programs.
