PAS 2050 Product Carbon Footprint Verification

In response to a broad community and industry desire for a consistent method by which to assess lifecycle GHG emissions and goods, a new 'Publicly Available Standard' has been introduced - PAS 2050. CICS is only one of four verification bodies in the UK that is accredited to verify against the PAS 2050 Standard and the associated Code of Good Practice by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).

What is PAS 2050?

PAS 2050 is an international standard for the carbon footprinting of goods and services across the full lifecycle. It measures those emissions released as part of the processes of creating, modifying, transporting, storing, using, providing, recycling or disposing of goods and services.

Why PAS 2050?

  • It provides you with a clear and robust framework to measure lifecycle GHG emissions.
  • The measurements can then be used to identify key sources of emissions along the supply chain which, in turn, can influence emission reduction initiatives and the development of lower carbon goods.
  • It can form part of your CSR report, by showing your stakeholders that you are committed to monitoring carbon emissions all along the supply chain.
  • It provides your customers with accurate information about the carbon footprints of your goods and services, giving them confidence in your brand and your company, and allowing them to make more informed purchasing decisions.

Why CICS?

  • CICS has specialised PAS 2050 verifiers
  • Our verifiers have extensive GHG verification and carbon footprint assurance expertise
  • The verification team includes lifecycle assessment (LCA) expert knowledge
  • You will be appointed a lead verifier with knowledge of your industry.
