CICS Publishes White Paper on Emissions Verification in the Aviation Sector
The message from aviation CO2 emissions specialist CICS is that many airlines still have much work to do to meet important forthcoming deadlines for the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS).
With the monitoring of emissions starting in January this year, aircraft operators must be ready to have their data independently verified in time for the reporting deadline of 31 March 2011.
To help get to grips with the legislation, CICS has produced a white paper entitled “Emissions Verification in the Aviation Sector”.
CICS director Shaun Bainbridge commented:
“Understanding the best way to undertake monitoring, verification and reporting of CO2 can be a complex task. Aircraft operators must be careful to ensure that this is done satisfactorily if they want to take full advantage once carbon trading comes into play.
“Our new white paper takes a comprehensive look at the issues involved, and I think it will provide a great resource for those who need to get to grips with the topic.”
