GHG Verification - Public Sector (Hospitals, Universities, Government)
Whether to comply with legislation or to provide voluntary data for carbon footprinting or sustainability reporting purposes, local authorities and governmental bodies are increasingly making the move towards independent verification. CICS is the foremost verifier of hospitals and medical centres, with over 80 sites performed annually and also university campuses, with over 30 sites verified.
Many public bodies now report their annual Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and have them verified by CICS as being true and correct. Having this data independently verified by a third party shows commitment to providing accurate and transparent data and gives stakeholders (public, NGO, shareholders) confidence that the organisation is taking action not only to measure their emissions but also to reduce and mitigate them.
Public sector organisations are notoriously diverse and their structure can be very complex, often with a large number of buildings, employees and vehicles. CICS verifiers have the skills and experience both to enable them to unravel these complexities and to identify organisational and operational boundaries. CICS has a wealth of experience in applying robust sampling methods where there are a huge amount of GHG source streams.
CICS has developed methodologies to enable these large organisations to be verified in a pragmatic way with a minimum time spent on site, thus reducing your time and effort.
We offer the following services:
- EU ETS Verification
If your business falls under the EU ETS Scheme, we can independently verify your GHG emissions data quickly and efficiently. We offer baseline emissions verification, new entrant reserve (NER) verification, annual verification, across single or multi sites. - CSR
Independent verification of your CSR Report is a discriminator of real commitment and action and satisfies your stakeholders’ demands for accuracy, validity, materiality, transparency. - Carbon Footprinting
Accurately and consistently measuring your carbon footprint, by having it independently verified, can feed into your sustainability reporting and energy management strategies. - PAS 2050
CICS is only one of four verification bodies in the UK that is accredited to verify against the PAS 2050 Standard (for the carbon footprinting of goods and services across the full lifecycle) and the associated Code of Good Practice by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).
